Verify Your School is Complying with Your Opt-Out During Pride Week

If you submitted a GSI Opt-Out Form to your child's school and you do not wish to have your child exposed the LGBTQ Pride messaging, then send in a written request for verification. The GSI Opt-Out Form has a section that specifically speaks to Pride Week.

According to Michigan Law, parent's have the legal right to Opt-Out of any and all sex-education, this includes the ever increasing amount of Rogue Sex-Ed including LGBTQ / Pride celebrations.

Below is a SAMPLE Verification Letter. Feel free to use this. Be sure to put your information in the document. We suggest you modify it to sound like you.

Dear [Principal Name],

It has come to my attention that LGBTQ+ Pride Week is being observed by [insert district

name]. At the very least, LGBTQ+ events are about promoting and educating individuals about different sexual orientations and gender expressions. These are topics of sex

education and as such, I would like to remind you and your staff at [insert school name] that

you have on file, my sex education opt-out form for my child(children), [insert child or children names and grade level].

As is expressed in my sex education opt-out form, I do not consent to my child (children)

engaging in or otherwise participating in sex education based school-wide activities, which also means either in the classroom or other common area within the school’s jurisdiction. Therefore, I expect the school to adhere to the filed opt-out form regarding LGBTQ+Pride Week activities or observances for my child(children) and that they will be excused accordingly without penalty or negative consequence.

Further, please provide a list of all the activities planned relating to this event and specifically

how you intend to ensure that my sex education opt-out form is honored.
